REMONDIS adopts European Company status.
The REMONDIS Group's activities have become increasingly international over the years. The management team has therefore decided to adopt a new legal status that reflects this international expansion.
Lünen. The European Company (also: Societas Europaea - SE) is a legal form for companies in the EU which greatly facilitates cross-border cooperation. This corporate form is particularly suitable for companies operating in several Member States of the European Union. Some 2,100 SEs have been established since the introduction of the European Company at the end of 2004.
"The REMONDIS Group now operates at 500 locations in 34 countries. Our aim is to expand our international reach further in the coming years. As such, replacing our corporate general partner with a European Company is both logical and appropriate," said the Chief Executive Officer of the REMONDIS Group, Ludger Rethmann, commenting on the decision. With the agreement of the Supervisory Board, "REMONDIS Beteiligungs AG" will be replaced by "REMONDIS Beteiligungs SE", with the change expected to take effect in April 2014. As a consequence, the Group's parent company will then trade as "REMONDIS SE & Co. KG". The Group's international expansion will be clearly reflected in its new name.
REMONDIS is one of the world’s largest privately run water and environmental services companies and provides services for about 30 million people. With its subsidiaries and associated companies, REMONDIS is active in 24 European countries as well as in China, India, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Australia and other countries on four continents. Founded in 1934, the family enterprise today employs 30.500 people and generates a turnover of 6.8 billion Euros (2012). With cooperative concepts and innovative services for trade, industry and municipalities, REMONDIS contributes to the raw material and water supply now and in the future.
