Lünen. REMONDIS has purchased all shares in the Dutch family-run company, Dusseldorp, with retroactive effect from 01 January 2015. With an annual turnover of around €135 million, the Dusseldorp Group has a wide-ranging portfolio including waste management, recycling and wastewater services as well as construction and demolition services. Whilst the construction and demolition division is to be sold on immediately to Reinteninfra BV, a local Dutch construction firm, REMONDIS is planning to significantly expand the business' recycling and waste management operations. As a result of this transaction, REMONDIS has acquired business locations in a number of different towns (for example in Lichtenvoorde, Doetinchem, Nijmegen, Ermelo, Nijkerk and Hardenberg), a total of 383 employees working in waste management and recycling and over 180 commercial vehicles.
REMONDIS and Dusseldorp - both family-owned companies - enjoy a strong business relationship having worked together closely for many years. They have not only been collaborating in Nijmegen ensuring sufficient volumes of materials are delivered to ARN (in which REMONDIS holds a share) but also in the areas of transport, logistics and hazardous waste. Werner Hols, managing director of REMONDIS International, knows that the two firms have a lot in common: "We are thrilled to be able to continue the long tradition of this family-run business and are well aware of the Dusseldorp Group's social commitments in Lichtenvoorde and the Achterhoek region. We very much look forward to continuing this tradition. REMONDIS is also a successful family-run company and is very much able to identify with the motto of the Dusseldorp Group: 'De oplossing dichtbij'. The fact that REMONDIS Nederland's head office will be moved to Lichtenvoorde in the future is a clear sign just how important this acquisition is for us."
Dr Andreas Krawczik, managing director of REMONDIS Nederland, explained the significance of this transaction: "We have developed a clear strategy to grow our business which not only aims to safeguard existing jobs. In the future, REMONDIS Nederland will also be looking to achieve additional growth by extending its customer base as well as acquiring further businesses, primarily in Gelderland and the Overijssel region. By doing this, we will be able to further improve our range of services which will benefit both our commercial and municipal customers in the Netherlands."
The takeover must still be approved by the Dutch competition authorities, the ACM (Autoriteit Consument en Markt). Both parties have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the acquisition.
REMONDIS is one of the world's largest privately owned recycling, service and water companies and provides services to around 30 million people. Via its branches and associated companies, REMONDIS operates across four continents including 24 European countries, China, India, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Australia. Founded in 1934, this family-run business has a workforce of over 31,000 employees and an annual turnover of 6.4 billion euros (2014). REMONDIS focuses on developing partnerships to implement novel and forward-looking concepts and ideas in order to help conserve our raw material and water supplies for future generations.
